Sea World Theme Park (Gold Coast, Australia) – Overview:

Sea World is extremely well themed, with the attractions and rides providing a very enjoyable day for the whole family. The show times are organised perfectly, allowing patrons just enough time to get from one to the next, without missing any part of the next show.

A very good all-round experience. Sea World is without a doubt one of the best theme parks on the Gold Coast.

RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS FOR THE KIDS: All photos courtesy of Village Roadshow

Sesame Street and associated trademarks, service marks and design elements are TM/© 2011 Sesame Workshop.

Sesame Street Beach:

Located in the centre of the Sea World marine park, Sesame Street Beach encompasses all the rides and attractions for the kids.

Rides include Bert and Ernie's Big Dive, the Big Bird Bounce, Oscar's Sweep the Beach, Elmo's Sea Subs, Zoe's Sub Splash and The Cookie Monster Cup Carousel.

In addition to the rides on offer at Sesame Street Beach, a clear favourite with the kids is the Bert and Ernie’s Holiday Adventure stage show. This highly energetic and entertaining show incorporates everyone’s favourite Sesame Street characters, in an all-singing, all-dancing performance.

For families with young children, Sesame Street Beach is a must-see attraction that has plenty on offer for the little ones.

Happy Feet 3-D Experience:

The Happy Feet 3-D Experience follows the adventurous story of ‘Mumble’ the tap dancing penguin, who sets off on an a trek to help save his endangered colony from likely extinction.

If you enjoyed the movie Happy Feet, this highlighted version of the film will definitely entertain you.

Castaway Bay:

Sea World’s Castaway Bay is a brilliant and unique concept offering great fun for the whole family.

Castaway Bay features three interactive attractions, including:

à The Battle Boats ride (pictured left);

à A 5 level Sky Fortress playground; and

à A 12-metre Sky Climb ropes course.

SEA WORLD’S MARINE ATTRACTIONS:

Penguin Encounter:

Sea World’s Penguin Encounter provides a rare opportunity to observe the beautiful King and Gentoo penguins up-close.

Emulating many environmental elements of their natural habitat, the enclosure allows visitors a chance to witness the penguins swimming in the waters and marching on the icy banks of their enclosure.

Ray Reef:

Ray Reef is one of the newer interactive attractions at Sea World, providing a highly educational and enjoyable experience.

The attraction has been designed to allow its visitors a chance to touch, feed and learn all about these graceful (and often misunderstood) creatures of the ocean.

There are over 100 rays in the Ray Reef pool enclosure, exhibiting the vast array of colours, sizes and species of rays.

For anyone that has never touched a ray before, you will be surprised to find that their texture is not at all what you would expect!

Ray Reef is another great exhibit on offer at Sea World.

If you like Ray Reef, check out:

Sea World’s Shark Bay

Penguin Point:

Located at the northern end of the park, Penguin Point is where you will find Sea World’s Fairy Penguins.

Designed to replicate the penguin’s natural habitat, the banks of the enclosure include natural rocks, gravels and grasses, while the large pool provides a place to witness the penguins at play in the water.

SHARK BAY:

Shark Bay:

Being one of the largest attractions in the Sea World park, Shark Bay has a lot on offer for its visitors.

The multi-level exhibit is home to an array of sharks, rays and tropical fish, which can be seen from the above-ground and underwater viewing platforms.

For those looking for a more interactive experience, Shark Bay has a snorkel and dive lagoon and a touch pool (see below).

Shark Bay’s Touch Pool:

The Touch Pool at Shark Bay encourages its guests to touch and experience some of the more subtle creatures of the ocean.

The touch pool includes:

à Sea starfish

à Sea cucumbers;

à Sea urchins; and

à Hermit Crabs

POLAR BEAR SHORES:

Polar Bear Shores:

From multi-level viewing platforms, the daily activities of these beautiful mammals are continually on display.

The underwater viewing area provides a chance to see Australia’s only polar bears at play in the waters of Polar Bear Shores.

Through the use of strategically placed trees, shrubs and rocks ( in conjunction with a large pool, a winding creek and a waterfall), the purpose-built enclosure has been designed to mimic the natural environment of the polar bears.

Wind generation fans, rain simulation and fogging capabilities have all been included in the enclosure’s design to further assist with the authenticity of the environment.

Polar Bear Shores is a definite highlight of Sea World, and is well worth a visit!
